Match Report

Nanthesh won the toss and elected to bat to make the best use of the good light. After a slow start, Nanthesh came in at the fall of Will Maden- Wilkinson's wicket at 5 for 1, hitting a quickfire 24 before being caught by H Duff off the bowling of A Walkden. Having reached 42 for 2 after 10 overs, the innings really took off with Blackpool scoring 89 off the second 10 overs. Man-of-the-match James Wilson (44 not out) ably assisted by Craig Brown (22) flayed the ball to all parts giving a final handy total of 131 for 4.

After a quick turnaround, Lytham set off to chase the total, but after reaching 58 for 2 off 9 overs, the wheels came off rapidly, helped by quick work behind the stumps by Craig Brown who claimed 4 victims, 3 off the bowling of Nanthesh, who finished with figures of 3 for 19. James Wilson took 2 for 23 and Nathan Bird 2 for 12. Lytham were bowled out for 90 in 17.4 overs, giving Blackpool the win by 41 runs.

Overall, a very exciting game with a convincing win against a strong Lytham side. A good all-round team performance which gets the season off to a great start.
