Colonel's
2008 End Of Season Report

The
1st X1 finished 3rd in the NPCL, an improvement of 7 places on the 2007
season, with some notable performances from this young, developing squad.
Professional Sajeewa Weerakoon's 1st season was an excellent one, with 761
league and cup runs, 59 wickets and a fabulous 111 not out vs in the cup.
Luis Reece finished with 776 runs for the season including 6 scores of 50
plus, top score of 99 and 27 wickets in league and cup. Ricky G's 45
wicket haul was a career best and he will go from strength to strength if
he continues to put the hard work in, in his efforts to remain fully match
fit. Andy Hogarth's first season stepping up from the Palace Shield was an
encouraging one, claiming 35 wickets and picking up some useful runs down
the order. James Smith had his best season yet behind the sticks bagging a
total of 46 victims in league and cup. His league haul of 34 assorted
catches and stumpings earned the Castle Award for NL Division 1. Skipper
Paul Danson made several match winning contributions with his determined
middle order batting and his leadership skills were a pleasure to behold.
It has been fascinating to observe his development as captain this season,
his motivational skills being second to none. Encouraging also too see a
more positive attacking approach to the game as witnessed at Darwen and at
home against Morecambe, to mention but two. 3rd in the league, runners-up
in the T/20, semi-finalists in the league cup and qualification for next
season's Lancs Cup..... well done, fellers.
